PHOENIX - Officials are releasing more details surrounding a mountain rescue in Phoenix that took a deadly turn on the morning of July 26.
According to earlier statements by officials with the Phoenix Fire Department says crews responded to reports of a mountain rescue at North Mountain and found a woman who was "beyond resuscitation efforts" at the scene near 7th Avenue and Peoria.
On July 27, Phoenix Police identified the woman as 61-year-old Karen O'Conner. Her family had last spoken with her on July 22, officials said, and her vehicle was in the parking lot next to the reserve.
According to Phoenix Police officials, a hiker discovered O'Conner before 9:00 a.m. on July 26. She appears to have passed away while hiking.
Authorities said there were no signs of foul play in the woman's death, but the official cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.
