CHANDLER, Ariz. (KSAZ) - The clean up begins after a sad morning in Chandler.
A man in his 20s losing control, slamming through a concrete wall and into a backyard. All of it happened as a family was fast asleep inside.
"Who cares about the car, who cares about the property, that's all replaceable," Jon Wall said.
Wall heard the loud bang around 1:30 a.m., and then rushed outside to a scene he will never forget of smoke in the air, the pickup truck on its side and hours later, the gravity of what happened began to sink in.
"I understand that the young man that died was only a year older than my son... and once you wind down from the turmoil it kinda hits you," he said.
Police are still working to figure out what exactly happened, but they believe the driver may have been speeding and they're still investigating whether or not he was impaired.
However, Jon says that shouldn't be the focus after such a tragic morning. He's grateful his family wasn't hurt, while also thinking about another family going through a much different reality.
"My family is safe, my dogs, a near miss," he said. "There's a brick in my house where my dog sleeps, but he's OK and all we can do it pray for that young man and his family that somehow they are comforted."
