Man accuses parents of destroying his porn collection, files lawsuit
GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (FOX 10) -- A man is suing his parents after he accused them of destroying his "valuable" pornography collection.
According to FOX affiliate WXMI, which is based in Grand Rapids, the man moved into his parent's home in Grand Haven, Michigan in October 2016, after going through a divorce from his wife. WXMI identified the plaintiff in the case as "Charlie" because the lawsuit is a civil lawsuit, and there are no associated criminal charges.
Charlie, according to the report, apparently stayed for 10 months in his parent's home, doing housework in lieu of paying rent, and was asked to leave after police were called to the home in August 2017 for a domestic situation. About three months later, Charlie's parents dropped off his belongings at Charlie's new home in Indiana, and Charlie's porn collection was apparently missing from the items his parents dropped off.
According to the report, Charlie claimed his parents destroyed the entire collection, which totaled over 12 moving boxes full of movies. Charlie later filed a police report, and estimated the collection's value at over $28,000. Prosecutors, however, declined to file charges against Charlie's parents.
Charlie's parents, according to the report, told Charlie in an e-mail that the porn collection was destroyed for his "mental and emotional health", and that they would have done the same if what they found was a "kilo of crack cocaine".
Charlie, according to the report, is seeking a total of $86,822.16 in damages. WXMI has reached out to the attorney representing Charlie, but they have no comment at this time.
