Intoxicated man, stepdaughter found lying near Phoenix road
PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix man is under house arrest after being found passed out on a sidewalk with his 4-year-old stepdaughter sleeping next to him near a busy roadway.
Phoenix police say 27-year-old Ulrick Bryan Woody is facing a child abuse charge. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
A passer-by called police Saturday, saying the child wasn't wearing any shoes and seemed dangerously close to traffic.
Officers say Woody was intoxicated and having trouble speaking.
He reportedly told police he was going to pick up his wife from work, but had no idea where he was located.
After his arrest, police say Woody admitted to drinking alcohol as he and his stepdaughter walked near major roadways throughout the day.
The Arizona Department of Child Safety has taken custody of the girl.
