Woman arrested in Goodyear murder case

48-year-old Dulcenia Edwards of Surprise was arrested in connection to the shooting death of a man at a home near 167th Avenue and Hilton.

Police say a woman is in custody in connection to a homicide in Goodyear.

Goodyear Police say officers responded to Cotton Lane and Yuma Road just before 1 a.m. on June 28 for reports of a "verbal family argument."

Once at the scene, officers discovered the body of Luis Rene Duarte, who had died from a gunshot wound.

On Tuesday, police arrested 48-year-old Dulcenia Edwards for second-degree murder.

She reportedly was romantically involved with Duarte and had a child with him, but it is unclear if they were still in a relationship.

The Surprise resident is now being held in jail on a $1 million bond.

No details were released about what led up to her arrest.
