After a few years of stores trying to take early advantage of holiday shoppers by opening on Thanksgiving day, many stores are now saying they will be closed on the holiday.
Backlash from the public, and from employees, was prevalent after some stores opened on Thanksgiving Day, offering pre-Black Friday deals. While the list of open stores was relatively short, the list of stores bucking consumerism on the family-driven holiday seems to grow every year.
According to bestblackfriday.com, nearly 70 stores will be closed on Thursday, November 23, 2017.
