GOODYEAR, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a Glendale man has been arrested after authorities recovered a large amount of drugs, cash, and a stolen Maricopa County Sheriff's Office weapon at his home and during a traffic stop.
According to Goodyear police, officers pulled over 23-year-old Diego Diaz Gamez during a traffic stop on August 9 and found a small amount of marijuana in his vehicle.. Police say Gamez did not have a driver's license and during a search of the vehicle, a large amount of drugs and cash were found, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and over $44,000 in cash.
Police then served a search warrant at Gamez's Glendale home and a stolen MCSO deputy's vest and AR-15 were both found.
In addition to these, a shotgun, military-style flak vest, more methamphetamine and cocaine were discovered at the home.
Police say the total street value of the drugs found was $304,518 and Gamez was booked into jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
Gamez faces charges including sale and transport of narcotic drugs, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, conspiracy, money laundering, possession of stolen property, and misconduct involving weapons.
