Gilbert Police: Homicide suspect dead following barricade situation

TEMPE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Gilbert Police say a homicide suspect is dead following a barricade situation at a Motel 6 in Tempe.

Police have been looking for a suspect who they say shot and killed a 55-year-old man in Gilbert last Friday.

On Monday, the suspect was located in Tempe, after Gilbert Police officials say they have been looking for the suspect for the past three days, and tracked him to the motel. The suspect stopped further negotiation efforts at around 1:45 p.m., and eventually, a single gunshot was heard from the car following gas deployment.

No officers fired their weapons, according to Gilbert Police officials, and no officers were hurt. An investigation is ongoing.
