Georgia officers to travel to Dallas
POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. - Powder Springs Officer Matthew Rook was so moved by the mass shooting in Dallas he will travel there to honor his fallen comrades and is making it possible for dozens of metro area law enforcement officers to join him.
Officer Rook is organizing the effort and will leave the metro area on Friday to attend the funeral of one of the Dallas police officers killed in the line of duty during an ambush last week.
Officer Rook has enlisted the help of Flournoy's Bus charter's Bill Flournoy, asking the Carrolton man to transport 53 metro area law enforcement officers to Dallas for Saturday's service.
Flournoy is donating the charter bus and his time. He will be driving. The officers are being asked to pay $20 to cover fuel costs and they will also have to pay for their own hotel rooms.
Organizing this trip is a way for Officer Rook to pay tribute to the fallen officers.
