PHOENIX (KSAZ) -- On August 21, 2017, crowds gathered to watch a solar eclipse that was was also referred to as the "Great American Eclipse".

The eclipse was named as such, as millions of people across the U.S. got to experience the rare total eclipse. For one Valley family, however, Tuesday's one-year anniversary of the eclipse is special, but for a different reason.
