Firefighters battle fire at north Phoenix auto shop
Crews were on the scene Thursday of a fire at an auto shop near 35th Avenue and Union Hills Road in north Phoenix.
PHOENIX - Crews have extinguished a fire that broke out Thursday at an auto shop near 35th Avenue and Union Hills Road in north Phoenix.
The fire on Feb. 16 sent a large black plume of smoke into the air. Phoenix Fire says crews responded at 2 p.m. for reports of a car fire that spread to a Firestone Auto Shop.
"Firefighters arrived and found heavy fire and smoke coming from the roof of the building," Capt. Todd Keller said. "Crews operated in a defensive strategy, extinguishing the flames from an elevated position."
Keller said prior to crews arriving at the scene, all workers had safely evacuated the building.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. No injuries were reported.
The intersection of 35th Avenue and Union Hills was shut down in all directions during the incident.
