Driver accused of DUI after crashing into Phoenix home
PHOENIX - A Valley family says they're thankful to be alive this New Year's Eve after a car crashed into their Phoenix home.
The crash happened just before 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 31 near 7th and Cambridge Avenues.
Phoenix Police officers responded to the scene and located the driver, who showed signs of intoxication.
"The man was taken into custody and is being processed for DUI," police said.
The crash left a huge gaping hole in the family's house.
"We both work from home. We're just lucky. We're lucky that where he hit could have easily killed somebody," said homeowners Jenn and Glenn.
This isn't quite the way this family had planned on finishing out 2024, with a car plowing into the side of their Phoenix home.
"It used to be my office. My desk was right up against where that was. It could have easily killed me we rearranged the rooms two months ago so I very easily
could have been hit by that, or our dogs. Very scary," said Glenn.
The room was converted from Glenn's office into a bedroom for when their grandchild comes to visit.
"That was my grandchild's room. The bed is now across the room where the grandchild would be normally if was here. That bed got slammed four feet across the room. Easily would have killed him," said Glenn.
