'Device' found in basement of Ford House Office Building deemed not hazardous
WASHINGTON - Authorities say a 'device' located in the basement of the Ford House Office Building in D.C. was deemed not hazardous.
A call for a suspicious package was initially received around 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. All occupants of the government building were evacuated and traffic on several streets surrounding the structure were closed.
The questionable item was found in a mechanical room, an official statement from U.S. Capitol police said. It looked like it could be a potential safety threat, but was determined to not be dangerous after an inspection. It's unclear what the object was.
No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.
