Crews try saving woman mountain biking on north Phoenix trail

Phoenix Fire Department crews say a woman is in extremely critical condition after she stopped breathing while mountain biking on the Desert Vista Trail in the Sonoran Preserve near I-17 and Jomax.

A spokesperson for Phoenix Fire Department says the woman stopped breathing after suffering from heat-related issued about a mile up the trail on 9am Sunday. They say the 28-year-old woman is a personal trainer and avid hiker who went mountain biking with two friends who are both doctors.

Crews say she was given CPR by the two doctors until fire crews made contact with the patient.

First responders flew the woman off the trail via helicopter as they tried to revive her. Crews brought her down to the parking lot to a waiting ambulance and she was rushed to the hospital. She is now listed in extremely critical condition.
