Crash on SR 85 in Buckeye leaves 2 dead, 3 injured
BUCKEYE, Ariz. - SR 85 southbound in Buckeye has reopened after a crash that killed 2 people and hospitalized 3 others on Saturday night, according to the Arizona Dept. of Public Safety.
The closure was at Hazen Road, milepost 149. The southbound lanes were closed for more than 12 hours during the investigation.
Troopers say it started after a vehicle tried to cross SR 85 at Hazen Road, directly into the path of another vehicle heading south down the freeway.
The second vehicle ultimately T-boned the first one, causing it to roll over into the median.
Five people were in the car that rolled over, officials said. Two passengers died from their injuries, and the remaining three were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
It is unknown if anyone in the second car was hurt.
