Chandler police officer injured after crashing into power pole

A Chandler police officer suffered minor injuries after a driver turned in front of a patrol car, causing the officer to swerve and hit a power pole.

According to the Chandler Police Department, the crash happened Friday night near Alma School and Warner Roads when a Chevrolet vehicle turned left in front of a patrol car, causing the officer to swerve out of the way.

The Chevrolet then collided with the patrol car, pushing it into a traffic light pole.

The officer, a 16-year veteran with the department, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries but has since been released and is resting at home.

The 55-year-old driver of the other car was not hurt but was cited for a traffic violation.

Speed nor impairment were factors in the crash.
