Chandler Police arrest man accused of shooting 3 family members, killing 1

Chandler Police arrested a man after he allegedly shot three of his family members.

Police say 26-year-old Victor Manuel Morales shot his father, mother, and sister before running away. His father was pronounced dead on the scene and his mother and sister were taken to a hospital. They continue to receive treatment at this time.

Officers responded to the home near Arizona Boulevard and Ray Road just before 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Court documents reveal that police received a call from a woman at the home, believed to be Morales' sister, stating her brother had a gun and "indicating possible harm towards family." Then a loud noise was heard on the call before it was disconnected. Police believe the noise was the initial gunshot.

Officers were able to contact the woman again who said Morales had shot his father in the head, killing him. A third call also came in from who police believe to be Morales' mother saying she had been shot.

When Police arrived at the home, they found Morales' mother, who had been shot in the left shoulder, and one of his sisters, who was the initial caller, outside the residence. Inside, they found another sister who had been shot and their father who was dead from a gunshot wound to the head, according to court documents.

The two women were taken to the hospital. The sister was shot four times and underwent two emergency surgeries. She is in extremely critical condition. The mother is being treated for a serious injury but is expected to be okay.

Police say the family explained ongoing issues with Morales, including police involvement. Court documents show that background information revealed previous calls to police that indicated an increasing problem regarding Morales as well as the family's growing fear for their safety with him in the home.

Morales has left the home after the shooting prompting a search in which he was considered armed and dangerous.

Police say a patrol officer located Morales in an alley based on his clothing and description. He was taken into custody without incident. A pistol was found in his possession.

Investigators say Morales described "bullying" behavior from his family but had no recollection of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
