A high-speed pursuit through the San Fernando Valley Wednesday night ended at a residential street in Bel Air with the suspect in handcuffs.

Police say the suspect was armed with an assault-style rifle when carjacked a vehicle from the Galpin Motors auto dealership in the 15400 block of Roscoe Boulevard in North Hills.

The pursuit traveled through Van Nuys, Sherman Oaks, Tarzana, and Encino areas, running red lights at high speeds and nearly crashing into other vehicles, before heading south on Sepulveda Boulevard where the suspect turned into a cul-de-sac striking at least one police vehicle.

The suspect vehicle eventually came to a stop in the 900 block of Moraga Drive in Bel Air where he was taken into police custody. It's unclear what made the vehicle stop but at one point, white smoke began emitting from the car as the vehicle considerably began slowing down.

The carjacking was reported shortly after 8:30 p.m. No injuries were reported. The identity of the suspect was not immediately released.
