Shoppers stunned as car plunges several floors in fatal mall accident
A fortunate bystander shared his close call at a Guatemala City mall on November 17, when a car plunged several stories from a parking area and crashed nearby, claiming one life.
GAUTEMALA CITY, Guatemala - A fortunate bystander said he nearly lost his life after a car plummeted several floors from a parking area into a Guatemala City mall, killing one person.
The incident happened on November 17.
Joel Abelino Pereira Cruz recorded video of stunned shoppers and told Storyful, "I was shopping with my family, and we were passing by just when the accident happened. The car literally fell 10 meters from where I was."
Mall officials said a visitor had lost control of their vehicle, and it crashed through a wall "at very high speed."
The car fell and landed in the middle of the shopping area.
Mall officials said the driver was transported to a local hospital.
However, a 22-year-old man who was working at a kiosk was killed.
