Border Patrol in Yuma arrests 7, seizes 700 pounds of pot
YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - U.S. Border Patrol agents in Yuma have arrested seven people living in the country illegally and seized more than 700 pounds of marijuana in the last two days.
Yuma Sector Border Patrol says seven men were caught Monday evening by agents at the Wellton Station.
They say the suspects were found near Interstate 8 with more than 470 pounds of marijuana. The suspected smugglers included one who had previously been charges with six felonies.
Authorities say then on Tuesday an agent found five bundles of marijuana in the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge.
They say the bundles weighted about 260 pounds altogether and worth more than $365,500. The drugs will be destroyed.
