Man shot, killed at Phoenix home; suspect sought: police

Police say they have arrested a suspect in connection to a shooting in a Phoenix neighborhood that left a man dead.

Phoenix Police say the shooting happened at around 1 a.m. on Feb. 21 at a home near 27th Avenue and Van Buren.

When officers got to the scene, they found 18-year-old Jesus Alexander Reyes-Morales, who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters.

Investigators say Reyes-Morales was at the home with a woman when the woman's ex-boyfriend showed up.

"During the interaction Reyes-Morales was shot," police said. "The former boyfriend left the home before police arrived."

The suspect, 29-year-old Jose Olegario Gomez Herrera, was found and arrested.

Herrera was booked into jail and is accused of murder.
