ASU football recruit suspended over BB gun incident
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - An incoming freshman Arizona State football player has been suspended indefinitely following allegations he threatened another teammate with a BB gun.
ASU football coach Todd Graham say defensive tackle George Lea was immediately suspended after his arrest Monday.
Lea faces charges of suspicion of first-degree burglary involving a weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful imprisonment.
He was taken into custody Tuesday by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
According to campus police, Lea allegedly went to a teammate's Tempe apartment and pointed a BB gun wrapped in a towel at him.
Lea told police he made it clear the weapon was a BB gun.
This is the second player in the team has had to suspend in the last three months.
