Arizona firefighter hurt in garbage truck explosion
SUN CITY, Ariz. - A firefighter was hospitalized following a fire and explosion on Thursday afternoon in the west Valley.
The incident happened near the Sun City and Surprise border, firefighters said.
What we know:
According to the Sun City Fire Department, crews responded to a vehicle fire at 2 p.m.
Once at the scene, crews encountered a garbage truck engulfed in flames.
What they're saying:
"Unfortunately one of our firefighters sustained injuries from an explosion and was transported to County Burn Center," the department said.
The firefighter is expected to make a full recovery.
