Alleged intruder shot by Phoenix homeowner
A man reportedly was shot and killed after trying to break into a home near 18th Avenue and Buckeye Road on Sunday.
PHOENIX - A Phoenix homeowner shot an alleged burglar early Sunday morning, police said.
Officers responded to a 911 call about a residential burglary near 18th Avenue and Yuma Street at around 8 a.m. on May 14.
The reported intruder, 31-year-old Aires Jordan Holmes, allegedly broke in and had some kind of confrontation with the homeowner.
"It was during this confrontation that the homeowner shot Holmes," said Sgt. Robert Scherer.
The homeowner was taken into custody but was released after the police interview.
The investigation is ongoing.
