4 children, 2 others critically injured in Tolleson crash
TOLLESON, Ariz. (KSAZ) - A mother, father, and their four small children are now in Maricopa Medical Center after a tragic car crash on Sunday night near 32nd Avenue and Buckeye.
Police say the vehicle they were in was run off the road by an erratic driver, where they landed in a ditch and were trapped inside.
A family member spoke with us at the scene and says the driver's behavior in the moments leading up to the crash were just bizarre.
"There was a driver that was kind of throwing things and swerving in and out of traffic and my family was in their SUV on their way home from getting dinner," Kristin Green said.
Green's brother-in-law, who was driving the vehicle, tried to avoid the other driver from swerving into the same lane, and that's when he lost control of the wheel. The family's car went straight for a cement block at the intersection.
Now, the entire family is in the Intensive Care Unit.
Green says she has a message for the driver who never stopped.
"I forgive him and not for him or his conscience, but because my family and I need to know that we don't have to hurt and I forgive him, but I'll never forget what he did."
The only update we have on the family's condition is that all six members are still in critical condition. The driver who allegedly ran them off the road has not come forward.
