Mesa Police are investigating after an alleged home invasion turned into a stabbing early Tuesday morning.

The incident happened in a residential neighborhood near Broadway Road and Mesa Drive. According to police, officers responded to the scene after receiving a call from a neighbor about a possible burglary.

"As officers were on the way, information was received that there were three possible suspects who had gone into an apartment and attempted to commit a burglary. The details were hard to come by because of a language barrier between the caller and the victim," read a portion of a statement released by Mesa Police.

When officers arrived, they determined that a home invasion did indeed take place and that two of the three people who were in the home at the time of the incident were stabbed.

Initially, police said 2 people were hospitalized for stab wounds, but it was actually one victim.

Police also say there are currently no suspects in custody and they have no suspect information at this time.

Mesa home invasion victim recalls terrifying moments

Victim speaks out

Gabriel Valencio describes how two men tied his wrists early Tuesday morning in a terrifying home invasion.

Valencio says it was about 2 a.m. when two masked men broke into the apartment he shares with two other men.

He says the men tied them up and beat them, demanding money.

Valencio says he gave them all he had —$100. His roommate was stabbed but is expected to recover.

He says he wants justice and will look for a better place to live now. Meanwhile, people in the neighborhood say the crime is alarming though they don’t live in the complex.

"It absolutely brings concern because we have children here with me and my wife," Marco Salazar, a neighbor, said.
