2 in custody after deadly Ahwatukee shooting

Police have detained two people following a deadly shooting that happened at the swimming pool of an apartment complex in Ahwatukee. FOX 10's Dominique Newland reports.

Two suspects were detained after a double shooting at an Ahwatukee apartment complex left one person dead.

Detective Brian Bowers said police are still searching for suspects and believe multiple shooters were involved in the altercation.

The shooting happened at around 2:18 a.m. at the Serafina Apartments near Interstate 10 and Elliot Road.

Phoenix Police say officers responded to the scene and found two gunshot victims in the pool area. The victims were taken to a hospital where one of them, identified as 19-year-old Kashmir Vaughn, died. 

The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

"Initial information was learned that two groups of people were in a verbal argument inside the fenced area of the apartment swimming pool area where the shooting took place. No arrests have been made at this time," read a portion of a statement released by Phoenix Police.

Police say two suspects are in custody after a double shooting near Interstate 10 and Elliot Road left one person dead.
