Vigil held for 18-year-old shooting victim at Phoenix park
A day following her death, loved ones gathered to remember Curry. "It's hard you know, 18-year-old girl, having her life taken away from her, you know with these senseless killings out here, so it's very hard, but we just take it one day at a time," said her father, Dan Van.
PHOENIX - As the suspect in the shooting death of an 18-year-old remains on the loose, the victim's loved ones are demanding justice.
"I just want her back. I wish we could have her back," said Michel'le Van, the older sister of the victim, who has been identified as Riann Curry.
Victim shot dead at park
At around 2 a.m. on March 20, Phoenix police officers were responding to two related shooting calls. At 19th Avenue and Roeser Road, that's where Curry was reportedly shot, says Phoenix Police Sgt. Philip Krynsky.
"Homicide detectives responded where they interviewed witnesses, processed the crime scenes and collected evidence," he said.
At 35th Avenue and Lincoln Street, that's where officers reportedly found Curry in a car. She was being taken to the hospital by witnesses, but they stopped and called 911 instead – Curry died at the hospital not long after arriving.
"There are no suspects in custody and no suspect description to release currently. The investigation is ongoing," Krynsky says. Detectives reportedly found more than 100 shell casings from multiple calibers at the scene.

Family still demanding justice following teen's shooting death
The shooting, which happened on the morning of March 20, took the life of 18-year-old Riann Curry. FOX 10's Stephanie Bennett reports.
In the days following Curry's death, Van said she cannot imagine her life without Curry.
'I don’t think that I really processed it yet," said Van. "I have my moments where I melt down and cry a little, but I don’t think that it -- actually, it still seems unreal."
Curry's niece, Marvaya Palmer, said Curry was the cool aunt, and felt more like a sister or a cousin. Curry's death has left Palmer heartbroken.
"She was a very outgoing person," said Palmer. "She had a lot of talents, and she was a cool person. I don’t think that this was right to happen to her."
"[Curry] was only 18. She had just turned 18 in December, to be exact. She was still a baby, like, she had her whole life ahead of her, but you know, she was robbed of her life. She had not even seen life yet, so we really want justice," said Van. "I wish that whoever sees this, you know if they were involved, if they know anything, that they will contact the police department and let them know. I wish that whoever did this someday feels remorse, and turn themselves in."
