NOGALES, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities at the Arizona border in Nogales say more than $1.3 million worth of marijuana has been found in a shipment of bell peppers.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Mariposa commercial facility conducted a secondary inspection after a drug-sniffing dog alerted to a tractor-trailer.
The officers located more than 2,700 pounds of marijuana in the truck's load of bell peppers.
The driver was arrested and authorities say he's a 38-year-old man from Nogales, Sonora, Mexico.
Officers processed the drugs and vehicle and referred the man to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
