Hiker found dead on Sunrise Trail in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (FOX 10) -- Scottsdale fire officials say a hiker has been found dead on Sunrise Trail late Monday afternoon.

According to officials, firefighters from Phoenix and Scottsdale responded to the scene, located near 145th Way and Via Linda, after reports of a down hiker on Sunrise Trail. That person was found by other hikers, who started CPR. Scottsdale fire crews then continued CPR, but the person was later declared dead.

According to Scottsdale Police officials, the hiker, identified as 65-year-old Stephen Butcher, was found about a half mile from the trailhead. He died from a medical-related event.
