Dust storm moves through Phoenix-metro area
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Strong thunderstorms have been observed on radar near Maricopa and moving north-northeast ahead of it is a dust storm near Chandler.
The National Weather Service issued a blowing dust advisory in effect until 3:00 p.m. MST. Affected areas include southwest Maricopa and Western Pinal Counties, including Interstate 8 from Casa Grande west toward Gila Bend and Interstate 10 from Casa Grande towards Chandler.

Wind gusts are up to 40 miles per hour and visibility is below one-half mile. Take precautionary measures if you need to drive due to reduced visibility and gusty winds.
"Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep your foot off the brake pedal. Remember.. pull aside.. stay alive," stated NWS officials.
