3 teenagers dead, 3 critically injured after a crash in Phoenix
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a crash near 23rd Ave and Dunlap that has left 3 teenagers dead and 3 hospitalized.
According to Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened at 12:17 a.m. on Sunday morning.
Police say the driver of one vehicle was traveling eastbound on West Dunlap Avenue when it drove over the center line into the westbound lanes.
The vehicle crashed with a second vehicle that was traveling westbound on West Dunlap Ave.
A 16-year-old passenger in the wrong-way vehicle was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the second vehicle and a passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.
Phoenix Police have identified the driver of the second vehicle has been identified as 18-year-old Nijah Chibeast. The passenger in that vehicle was a 17-year-old female. Police have not identified the female.
A 17-year old, 15-year-old, and a 16-year-old that were in the wrong way vehicle transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police say impairment is a possible factor in the fatal crash.
