Phoenix woman sentenced in boyfriend's shooting death
PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman who pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the shooting death of her boyfriend will serve four years in prison.
A Maricopa County judge handed down the sentence for Ashley Elizabeth Eide on Thursday for manslaughter and misconduct involving weapons.
Eide must also have to serve three years of supervised probation.
Authorities say 26-year-old Fernando Ruelas, Jr. was shot in February 2014 on a landing of the Phoenix apartment complex where the couple lived.
Phoenix police say Eide told investigators that she and Ruelas argued and he hit her several times.
Eide also told police that she feared for her life, but didn't mean to shoot him.
Police say Eide had injuries to her face when officers arrived at the apartment complex.
