Arizona weather forecast: Highs near 80 degrees on Friday in Phoenix
PHOENIX - Plenty of change over the next week!
Friday will run considerably warmer than normal. As a result, many locations around the state could hit record-high temperatures. Phoenix tied a record for the date by reaching 79°. The previous record was set in 1989. Areas like Flagstaff, Window Rock, Camp Verde, and Payson will break or come close to breaking records, too.
After a final warm day, a cool down begins over the weekend. A cold front passes Arizona on Saturday, which will increase winds across the state. Gusts of 30-40 mph are possible in northern Arizona with gusts around 15-20 mph in Phoenix. Highs will slip into the low 70s on Saturday and cap at 70 on Sunday.
While the cold front passes through - dry - this weekend, a second system could bring wet weather next week.
It's too early for the fine details, such as rain and snow totals or exact arrival timing. However, it appears a storm system will pass near Arizona and slip south of our state Tuesday through Thursday. As it moves by, it may trigger rain and snow showers. It will likely bring windy weather and cooler temperatures, too. Highs in the mid to upper 60s are forecast in Phoenix for much of next week.
As the system develops and approaches, stick with Fox 10 on air and online for updates on the storm timing and totals.
