Arizona weather forecast: Highs in the 70s on Thursday in Phoenix

Arizona rides a temperature rollercoaster for the next couple of days.

What we know:

High pressure is the dominating feature of the forecast across the Southwest for the next two days. As the ridge shifts, temperatures climb to the middle 70s by Thursday afternoon. Morning lows in the Valley will also climb back to average, around the mid 40s.

A small system will approach Arizona by Friday. As it moves through Thursday night into early Friday, a few isolated showers are possible generally north and east of the Valley.  A sprinkle along the north/east edge of the Valley is possible, but it's a low chance. As the moisture lifts north, a few light snow showers will be possible along the Rim and White Mountains. Again, it will be short-lived, light and fast-moving.

Winds will increase again, especially in northern Arizona, on Friday.

Temperatures take a dip after the system passes us. Highs return to the middle 60s in Phoenix beginning Friday. This trend continues through the weekend and into next week. Next week, in fact, looks to drop into the low to middle most of the week with overnight temperatures returning to the upper 30s in Phoenix.

What they're saying:

"Plenty of sun again today w/ high temperatures reaching their warmest level for at least the next week. A series of weather systems will pull cooler air much closer to the climatological normal into the region late this week through the middle of next week," the National Weather Service Phoenix wrote on X.
