Panhandling crackdown bill introduced in AZ Legislature
There's a new effort in the Arizona Legislature to stop panhandlers from asking for money in medians and freeway ramps. The bill's sponsor says it will save lives and prevent accidents, but critics say it would violate people's rights. If passed, the bill would make it illegal for people to congregate and solicit money on medians, traffic islands and highway exit and entrance ramps. So far, the bill has passed through the House Rules Committee and will move ahead to the rest of the legislature.
