Wood Fire: Some people should be prepared to evacuate

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says residents in the neighborhood off of North Hing Avenue, East Cliffside Road and North Battle Ax Road should be prepared to evacuate, if necessary, amid the Wood Fire, which has burned 6,500 acres in the Tonto National Forest.

Forward progress stopped on McDowell Fire

Crews have made progress on a fire burning in McDowell Mountain Regional Park. The McDowell Fire is now 20% contained after burning 90 acres, the Arizona Dept. of Forestry and Fire Management said.

Western wildfires continue on path of destruction

Current wildfires have burned more than two million acres nationwide, and more trouble could be coming. California and parts of Oregon are preparing for very dry air and strong winds. Near the Nevada-California state line, wildfires are threatening hundreds of homes. In Oregon, more acres have burned in 2024 than any year since reliable record keeping began.

Lightning strikes to blame some AZ wildfires

More than 800 lightning ground strikes have caused wildfires to spark across Arizona so far this year. Some of those fires are the Benchmark, Clair, Bartlett, and Wally fires. FOX 10's Kenzie Beach has the story.

We're keeping track of several wildfires burning across Arizona. The Skeleton Fire doubled in size overnight to more than 3,000 acres. Another fire in the in the Buckeye Hills area is 100% contained Sunday evening. The Robbins Fire has been mapped at 71 acres. Meanwhile, the Sand Stone Fire has not grown in the last couple of days, but crews say there is still work to do.
