Wood Fire: Some people should be prepared to evacuate

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says residents in the neighborhood off of North Hing Avenue, East Cliffside Road and North Battle Ax Road should be prepared to evacuate, if necessary, amid the Wood Fire, which has burned 6,500 acres in the Tonto National Forest.

Forward progress stopped on McDowell Fire

Crews have made progress on a fire burning in McDowell Mountain Regional Park. The McDowell Fire is now 20% contained after burning 90 acres, the Arizona Dept. of Forestry and Fire Management said.

Western wildfires continue on path of destruction

Current wildfires have burned more than two million acres nationwide, and more trouble could be coming. California and parts of Oregon are preparing for very dry air and strong winds. Near the Nevada-California state line, wildfires are threatening hundreds of homes. In Oregon, more acres have burned in 2024 than any year since reliable record keeping began.
