Kyrsten Sinema delivers farewell speech to Senate

Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema delivered a farewell speech on the Senate floor on Dec. 18. Sinema served in the U.S. Senate for six years. She was elected as a Democrat but later changed her party to Independent. Sinema previously announced she would not seek a second term. Sinema was the first woman to represent Arizona in the U.S. Senate.

Luigi Mangione indicted in UHC CEO's murder

Alleged CEO killer Luigi Mangione has been indicted in New York City and faces a slew of charges, including first-degree murder and murder as an act of terrorism, the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg announced. Luigi Mangione already was charged with murder in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, but the murder as an act of terrorism charge is new.

Devil's Advocate closing its doors on Dec. 28

It's the end of an era for one of Arizona State University's most popular sports bars. Devil's Advocate, located near University Drive and Rural Road, will close their doors for good on December 28, the sports bar announced on social media.

Minimum wage increasing on Jan. 1, 2025

Minimum wage will increase by 35 cents on New Year's Day, meaning the official state minimum wage will be $14.70 an hour. The increase puts Arizona among the highest minimum wages in the country.
