An Arizona man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2017 death of his wife, who was buried alive in a hand-dug grave near their home, authorities said.

The teenage girl was thrown from the backseat and into the windshield during the crash on Cooper Basin Road. Four other teens inside the car were not hurt. Investigators say the driver was believed to be speeding and failed to negotiate a turn before hitting an embankment. The 15-year-old girl was not wearing a seatbelt.
