Tempe may lower speed limits on these roads

The city of Tempe wants to hear from residents as city leaders consider lowering speed limits. The city is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday night. The proposal would lower speed limits by five to ten miles an hour on four major roads. Those roads are Mill Avenue, College Avenue, Southern Avenue and First Street.

Man who assaulted, kidnapped ASU student sentenced

A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he was found guilty of the sexual assault and kidnapping of an ASU student in October 2021. Eric Todd Bell attacked a student in Tempe as she was walking from her apartment to work at around 5 a.m. on Oct. 17.

Teen earns doctorate from Arizona State

1 dead in crash involving city bus on Loop 202

One person was killed in a crash involving a city bus and a pickup truck along the westbound lanes of the Loop 202 near Scottsdale Road, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said. The freeway was shut down due to the crash, but it has since been reopened.

Dog rescued from Lookout Mountain ready for adoption

A dog rescued from the side of Lookout Mountain a week ago is now up for adoption. A good Samaritan found the two-year-old Shar Pei mix in a small cutout about a half-mile up the trail. Arizona Humane Society workers helped carry her down. Now named Bright Eyes, she's ready for someone to take her home. She's available at the Papago Park campus off Loop 202 Red Mountain and Van Buren Street. There's no adoption fee for Bright Eyes or any other dog six months or older through May 10.
