House fire displaces family in west Phoenix

A west Phoenix family was forced out of their home early Thursday morning following a house fire. The Phoenix Fire Department said the fire sparked at around 1 a.m. near 91st Avenue and McDowell Road. Firefighters were able to gain control of the flames quickly and no one was injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“The driver of the Kia did not display any signs or symptoms of impairment; however it is believed that impairment was a factor on behalf of the driver of the Hyundai,” Sgt. Justus said in a statement.

When Phoenix Police officers pulled over a car on the morning of Aug. 21 near 95th Avenue and McDowell Road, several shots could be heard as officers rushed to get everyone to safety.
