A six-car crash on I-10 in Avondale killed one person and sent another to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon, Arizona DPS said. The Aug. 21 crash happened near 107th Avenue in the eastbound lanes of the highway.

Several schools were temporarily placed on lockdown on Aug. 19 following a shooting near Dysart and Van Buren Roads. Avondale Police say one person was shot and is expected to survive. The suspect remains on the loose.

An alleged red light runner caused a deadly crash early Sunday morning in Avondale, the police department says. The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. near Dysart and Thomas roads.
