AZ vets on 'trip of a lifetime' | Care Force

A number of Arizona veterans are in the nation's capital for the week, as part of Honor Flight Arizona's 100th mission. The flight is a one-of-a-kind experience for veterans who have given a lot to the country, and FOX 10's Christina Carilla has more on the group's experience in Washington, D.C.

Phoenix area Elks Lodge marks Flag Day

June 14 is Flag Day, which commemorates the day the Continental Congress approved the design of the American flag in 1777. While Flag Day was made an official day by President Harry Truman in 1949, the Elks Lodge has had a tradition of observing Flag Day that dates back to 1908, and that tradition is still alive at the group's Fountain Hills location.

Arizona veterans arrive in D.C. for Honor Flight

Veterans from the Valley arrived in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. They're in our nation's capitol ahead of Memorial Day Weekend as part of an Honor Flight. These war heroes departed from Phoenix Sky Harbor surrounded by cheering crowds. Their trip to D.C. is a chance to honor the lives lost in battles and to see the memorials that represent what they fought for. These are veterans from World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Some of them fought in all three.
