Voyager 1: NASA may have just managed to save its historic spacecraft

Voyager 1 and 2 launched in 1977 and are NASA’s oldest and most distant robotic space travelers. An issue with Voyager 1’s code that began in November meant the spacecraft was unable to send back data from interstellar space. After some creative engineering to find a solution, Voyager teams got the first usable data from the spacecraft on April 20.

Fireball over Arizona explained by NASA

NASA is giving us new insight into a fireball spotted over Arizona skies on Tuesday. NASA says it first became visible at 49 miles over the Big Horn Mountains Wilderness west of Tonopah. It moved southwest over the I-10 at 32,300 mph. The fireball is estimated to have weighed about 150 pounds. When it broke up, it released the same amount of energy as nearly two tons of TNT.

Meteor streaks across San Tan Valley sky

A bright and colorful meteor streaked across the sky in San Tan Valley near Ironwood Drive and Pima Road on the evening of April 16. Kyle Schmaltigan sent the video in after he caught the meteor while he drove through a residential area. Right now, the Lyrid Meteor is underway for about a week.
