Rams fans take over Glendale for wild-card game
LA Rams fans took over State Farm Stadium for the wild-card game against the Minnesota Vikings on Jan. 13. The Arizona Cardinals opened up its stadium for the game as fires in southern California continue to burn. FOX 10's Megan Plain has more.
GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Los Angeles Rams overwhelmed the Minnesota Vikings on Monday night in an NFC Wild Card game at State Farm Stadium.
The game was moved to Glendale amid the deadly wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
Vikings-Rams NFL playoff game will be played at State Farm Stadium
The National Football League says the NFC Playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams will be moved to Glendale amid raging wildfires in Southern California.
Rams' quarterback Matthew Stafford threw two touchdown passes in LA's 27-9 win over the Vikings.
"I thought they epitomized and represented the city the right way," Rams coach Sean McVay said, via the Associated Press. "You talk about sports offering a platform for people to come together and offer a little temporary relief — I thought the way our team competed tonight was what that looked like."
The Rams defense smothered Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, sacking him nine times.
"They were just better than us today," Darnold said, via the AP. "I left a couple throws out there that I could be better on, especially early in the game. Just too many mistakes."
