Harvest time: Fresh herbs, leafy greens grown at Chase Field

PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks and United Health Care are teaching children about growing fresh herbs, leafy greens and eating healthy.

When it comes to teaching kids about healthy eating, this a home run. On Thursday, about a dozen elementary school students had a chance to help with the harvest.

Kids took turns snipping fresh herbs and greens. From common kitchen ingredients to exotic leafy greens.

The D-backs, working with UHC and Flower Street Urban Gardens, created the D-backs Greens vertical garden on the northwest wall of Chase Field earlier this summer. They've had three harvests so far.

It's a chance for kids to try new things and build healthy habits that last into adulthood.
