WM Phoenix Open: Golf tournament draws golf fans and non-golf fans alike

The first round of the WM Phoenix Open took place in Scottsdale on Thursday, and while golf superfans and some of the best names in golf are there, there's another group of people there who are looking for a good time.

Some attendees looking at fashion instead of golf

While some at the WMPO are looking at golf action, there are those who grabbed a drink, got a bite, talked with friends, and then sit back and watch the fashion show.

What they're saying:

"That’s half the fun here, to come look around and see what other people are wearing, what they’re doing, hopefully not making a fool of themselves," said one attendee.

Those who are new to TPC Scottsdale could be in for an eye-full, from miniskirts to silly shirts, and green overalls.

"We all work together, and we decided a couple nights ago we’re gonna use overalls," said one attendee. "I mean that’s the colors of [WM]. It’s green and white, that’s the thing."

Fashion is also on the mind of some people who are interested in golf.

"I play golf, so I try to look the part and look good too. If you don’t play good, you gotta look good!" said one attendee.

Event drawing those from out of state and overseas

The event is not only drawing the attention of those in the Phoenix area, but those outside of Arizona as well.

"It's just an amazing tournament," said one person from London, in the United Kingdom. "It’s fun, it’s different, so yeah. Why not?"

""I’m just up from Washington," said another attendee. "We just came down here, see our friends, and we’re going to Nickelback [Friday] night."
