Who is Griffin? 'The Masked Singer' reveals '90s teen idol

On Wednesday’s latest episode of "The Masked Singer," Group B continued to battle it out during the "Group B Finals" with the celebrities channeling some iconic country superstars.

The remaining Group B contestants, Pearl, Griffin and Boogie Woogie, returned with performances including, "Here You Come Again," ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads" and "Something In The Water."

While two celebrities were able to move forward in the competition, Griffin was ultimately chosen to be unmasked and sent home.

Who is Griffin?

"The Masked Singer" unveiled Griffin as James Van Der Beek, a ‘90s television and movie icon, known for starring in "Dawon’s Creek" and "Varsity Blues."

"I have always loved to sing," Van Der Beek, 48, shared with the audience following his reveal. "I thought I would be a singer. I thought I would be on Broadway."

He added, "Then when I was 20, I accidentally became a teen idol, so that plan went out the window."

The actor marked his 48th birthday earlier this month by reflecting on the "hardest year of his life," as he continues to battle colorectal cancer.

He told the audience he has been dealing with health issues, adding, "So to put on a mask and inhabit a character and connect with an audience just with a song and be that connected tissue between me and y’all, it’s been just a blast."

Van Der Beek was surprised on stage by his six children, Olivia, 14, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 11, Emilia, 8, Gwendolyn, 6, and Jeremiah, 2, along with his wife Kimberly.

"Singing is the one thing I’ve never gotten to do, and I was like, ya know what, this looks like a lot of fun," he added.
