Traffic returning to normal on I-17, following backup due to brush fire near Black Canyon City

NEAR BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. (KSAZ) - ADOT officials say traffic is now flowing normally on I-17's southbound lanes, past Black Canyon City.

Earlier in the day, ADOT officials said several brush fires burning near I-17 may result in periodic closure of the freeway's southbound lanes. The fires, were burning between mileposts 244 and 235, and forced the closure of the right lane at several locations, in order to accommodate fire crews.
